Yanks take care of Cardinals

Ryan Gonzales came up with the key hit of the game, and it

propelled the Yankees to a 6-2 victory over the Cardinals in Majors

Division play at Robinwood Little League.

Gonzales delivered a two-RBI triple in the fifth inning, then later

scored on a passed ball, as the Yankees took control.

Gonzales also threw three innings in relief and didn’t allow the

Cardinals a run.

Ryan Donohue and Ryan Magney also collected an RBI for the Yankees.

Matt Pluth, Ryan Nagle, Kevin Brostoff, and Devon Ugland all had hits for

the Cardinals.

Brewers 6, Braves 0

The Brewers clinched the first half championship by blanking the second

place Braves. Casey Becker pitched five shut out innings to record the

win, then Scott Schauer closed out the victory by shutting down the

Braves in their final at-bat. Schauer was the big producer on offense

with two home runs and a double, and Becker also homered. Todd Locken,

K.P. Powers, Steven Powers, and Kevin Radle all had hits for the Braves.

Mets 14, Brewers 7

Brandon Gladu came on in relief of starting pitcher Nolan Perine to

strike out nine and shut out the Brewers over the final four innings, and

Jason Gettler led the Mets on offense with three hits; Daniel Jones

homered and singled for the Brewers.

Braves 13, Yankees 9

Bryan Kornswiet second hit of the day knocked in the go-ahead runs with

two out in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Kevin Powers, Steven

Powers, and Todd Locken each finished with two hits as the Braves rallied

back from an eight run deficit; Gray Bailey and Chris Gorham each had

three hits, and Ryan Donohue, Darby Crowley, and Ryan Gonzales had two

hits apiece.
