Softball: OCC drops final game, Degree sets another record

COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College’s softball team lost the final
game of its season to visiting Santa Ana, 7-2, Tuesday in an Orange
Empire Conference game.
But the Pirates (17-25, 6-15) had a season highlight when Kristin Degree
finished the game with a 2 for 4 day at the plate. That gives her a .444
batting average for the season, breaking the old mark of .426 set by
Kerry Grimson. Degree already tied the school record with 40 stolen bases
and 35 runs scored this year.
Kimberly Guillen and Tasha Thurmond had the two OCC RBIs. Pirates catcher
Renee Snyder went 2 for 3 with one run scored. The Dons (26-14, 15-6) put
up four runs in the fifth inning.
