Speedway: 2000 season kicks off Saturday night

COSTA MESA - The Orange County Fairgrounds will, once again, be the
site for the professional speedway motorcycle racing’s Coors Light 2000
Season Opener Saturday night.
The first race begins at 7:30 p.m. with the gates opening at 6:30.
Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for juniors ages 13-17, $3 for youngsters
ages 6-12. Children under 5, parking and programs are all free.
The opener kicks off over 30 scheduled races featuring the nation’s top
racers competing on built, alcohol-burning, brakeless motorcycles as well
as the 2-man Mission Yamaha sidecar motorcycles.
Professional speedway motorcycle racing has been a fixture at the Orange
County Fairgrounds since 1969.
In all, 19 events are scheduled on Saturday nights throughout the summer,
including the Orange County Harley Davidson Night, the 25 Lap Classic,
the Jack Milne Cup, Skirt Night, Legends of the Speedway and the U.S.
National Championship, set for Oct. 14.
