NBLL AA: Diamondbacks double-slam Dodgers

NEWPORT BEACH - Anna Palchikoff hit two grand slams to pace the

Diamondbacks over the Dodgers, 12-7, in Newport Beach Little League AA

Division action last weekend.

The Dodgers were led by Jesse Starne and Sean Tokuyama, who each had two

hits and two runs scored. Michelle Zucker led theDodgers’ defense at

catcher, tagging a runner out at the plate and throwing a runner out at

second base.

In other AA action:

Diamondbacks 15, Mets 12 - With two outs in the last inning and no

runners on base, the Diamondbacks scored seven sixth-inning runs to

defeat the Mets.

Hunter Adler’s grand slam to right-center field tied the game before

Chris Burke’s two-run single gave the D-Backs the lead for good.

Bryan Yasakochi slowed the Mets’ bats down in the bottom of the sixth

inning to preserve the win.

The Mets were led by Beau Attyah, who collected three hits and scored

three runs, while Matt Cohen and Zak Mauer-Erickson also scored three

runs apiece.

Mariners 14, Dodgers 11 - Nico Napolitano had three hits, including a

three-run home run to lead the Mariners over the Dodgers.

Bradley Hess added a home run, while Jeff Jones, Danny Baker, Daniel

Dichior, and Eric Chebil all had multiple-hit games for the Mariners.

Pitchers Danny Baker, Guy Sutherland, Jeff Jones and Hess combined to

strikeout 10 Dodgers in the game.

Joey Booth, Shane Roddy and Chad Moribito each had two hits for the

Dodgers, while pitchers Sean Tokuyama, Steven Bruno and Michelle Zucker

combined to strikeout eight.

Diamondbacks 12, Angels 11 - In a game with six different lead changes,

the Diamondbacks rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning

to edge the Angels.

Hunter Adler had an RBI single, scoring Dylan Marsh with thetying run

before Matt Morris drove in Brian Yasukochi with a single to win the

game.

Haley Alder had a two-run single, while Aaron Ettl, Mickey Miela and Max

Newfield each had extra-base hits for the D-Backs.

The Angels were led by Nick Kline and Michael Epstein, who each had three

hits, while pitchers Matt Steinberg, Cory Vitalo, Brett Weinberger and

James Cunningham also played well.
