Evans Hotels, the owner and operator of the Newport Dunes Waterfront

Resort and Marina, was named the 1999 Training Organization of the Year

by the San Diego chapter of the American Society for Training and

Development for its intensive staff development programs.

The award, which was presented to the company earlier this year, is given

annually to an organization that continually develops programs to improve

the performance of its work force.

Dan Ferbal, corporate director of training, said the hotel group’s

programs range from an orientation for new employees to management

certification focusing on leadership and coaching skills.

“We are thrilled to win this prestigious award,” Ferbal said.
