Women’s tennis: Keijzer, Goode advances in OEC tournament

RIVERSIDE - Lori Keijzer and Erica Goode both advanced to the third
round Tuesday in the Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis tournament
at Riverside College.
After first round byes, Keijzer swept Fokah Pham of Fullerton, 6-2, 6-1,
while Goode blew by Fullerton’s Edna Castellanos, 6-1, 6-4, in second
round matches.
OCC’s Merin Yoshida, Shannon Gibson and Jessica Andrus all won first
round matches and lost in the second. The doubles squad of Andrus and
Gibson moved on to the third round by default. The third round starts
Thursday, at 2 p.m.

Yoshida (OCC) def. Mahjoub (IVC), 6-2, 6-0; Gibson (OCC) def. Collins
(Sad), 6-1, 6-1; Andrus (OCC) def. Watannabe (SA), 6-0, 6-2.
Second round
Keijzer (OCC) def. Pham (Ful), 6-2, 6-1; Goode (OCC) def. Castellanos,
6-1, 6-4; Yoshida (OCC) lost to Amos (S), 3-6, 2-6; Gibson (OCC) lost to
Angeloni (Ful), 1-6, 1-6; McNamara (OCC) lost to Jex (Sad), 2-6, 5-7;
Andrus (OCC) lost to Bradford (Riv), 0-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-6.
