Cubs use late burst to beat Dodgers

Daniel Tierney smacked a bases loaded, two-RBI double in the fourth

inning to break a 2-2 tie and send the Cubs on their way to an eventual

11-5 victory over the Dodgers during Minor B Division opening day play

Saturday at Huntington Valley Little League.

The Cubs’ pitching trio of Nick Mazzone, Ryan Little, and Dave Folger

combined on a three-hitter, with Dodger hits going to Huntington

Hardesty, John Christopoulous, and Jared Mossembekker.

Dodgers starting pitcher Shawn Stiffler had a big opening day by throwing

three shutout innings with a 0.00 ERA before retiring.

Other scores:

Yankees 8, Diamondbacks 7
