The Burnt Biscuits moved into a three-way tie for second place in
the Peewee Club Division standings Monday, knocking the US Marines out of
first place at the same time, with a 12-7 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline
Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
The Burnt Biscuits (1-1) executed a balanced attack to near perfection as
P.J. Kavaya, Jeff Barnett, and Raymond Macias each scored three goals,
and Adam Freede (one goal) led the way with four assists.
Josh Laricchia scored two goals and assisted three other scores, Jared
Gibo scored three goals, and Derrick Burnett added two more goals for the
US Marines, who dropped to 1-1.
Laricchia, who also plays for the Pee Wee A California Comets and the
Mission OC Blades 87 team, helped lead the Comets in December to the
Winter Classic championship at Disney Ice in Anaheim. At last weekend’s
North America Roller Hockey Championships (Winter Nationals) in Las
Vegas, Laricchia ended the tournament with 13 points (four goals, nine
assists, including one goal and an assist in the Squirt Under-12 final),
to play a key role in the OC Blades’ win over the St. Louis Blast in the
championship match.
