The Surf goes overtime for title

Dustin Nowick scored off a feed from Kevin Tanaka in overtime to
lift The Surf to a 7-6 victory over the regular season champion Sabres in
the Mite Club Division championship match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey
Center in Huntington Beach.
It was the third score of the match for Nowick, who scored the first and
last goals of regulation play for The Surf, who finished second to the
Sabres during the regular season.
Tanaka also scored twice, single goals went to Kevin Lachman and Michael
Burkhardt, and goalie Eric Alfaro recorded 22 saves.
The Sabres, who stormed back to score four goals in the third quarter to
force overtime, were led by Adam Springer’s three goals.

LBZ 11, Hurricanes 3 LBZ broke open a scoreless first quarter tie with a six-goal outburst in
the second frame. Paul Anderson scored three goals with an assist,
Michael Mendez scored twice, Tyler Ruiz scored once with a pair of
assists, and Andrew Thomason picked up two assists to pace regular season
champion LBZ.
Rocco Grimaldi scored off a Darren Nowick assist in the opening half and
both Nowick and Luke Gane (off a Cameren Prime assist) scored in the
second half for the Hurricanes, who finished in third place during the
regular season.
