AYSO Region 57: Galaxy Girls battled in weekend tourney

BEVERLY HILLS - The Galaxy Girls, an AYSO Region 57 under-12 girls
soccer team, competed in the Beverly Hills Sportsmanship Cup last weekend
and went up against some tough competition.
Game one against all-stars from Agoura-Westlake ended in a 1-1 tie
with Caroline Claure, Rachel Haber and Kelly McElroy leading the Galaxy
Girls’ defense. Lindsey Norman scored the team’s lone goal.
In the following game against Wilshire Hollywood, injuries by Amanda
Knuppel and Jessica Wertheim cost the Galaxy Girls in their 3-0 loss,
despite strong play from goalie Emily Almaraz.
Despite the injuries, the G-Girls hung tough and battled Beverly Hills
to a 2-2 tie in a game three. Offensive support was given by Caitlyn
Czisny, Jae Morosin and Katie Wade.
In their final game against Rancho Palos Verdes the Galaxy Girls lost,
1-0, despite strong play from Ashley Carnahan, Kelly Nelson and Kara
Jones.
The Galaxy Girls will compete in Area Playoffs, which begin Jan. 8.
