Lightning strikes again

The HB Lightning put the finishing touch on an unbeaten regular
season Saturday, tying Region 97 (Newport Beach), 1-1, in an AYSO girls
Division 3 (Under-14) match.
The defensive struggle featured strong play in the net by Lightning
goalie Gena Johnson, who made several key saves to preserve the tie.
The Lightning of Region 143 (Westminster/Huntington Beach) got their lone
score off a Jessica Abdou goal.
The playoff-bound Lightning finished the regular season 10-0-2, posting
six shutouts while outscoring the opposition, 41-6.
‘I’m very proud of this team’s accomplishments,’ Lightning Coach Jack
Peterson said. ‘An undefeated season at any level is special and I feel
privileged to coach a group of athletes that have displayed so much team
togetherness.’
The HB Lightning is also comprised of Megan Ball, Shauna Brown, Tara Fox,
Aubrie Fuette, Jessica Goud, Tori Heglar, Nina Kratter, Caitlin McGinnis,
Ann-Mari Osgood, Janet Peterson, Hilary Pohlman, Lindsey Rodgers, and
Lauren Stimmler.

DIVISION 4 (Under-12)
Baywatch Babes 3, Riptide 0
Allyson Nelson, Whitney Thornton, and Cassandra Vota all scored as the
Baywatch Babes wrapped up the division championship. The Baywatch Babes,
who also are made up of Katie Anderson, Tricia Erznik, Kelli Fresenius,
Natalie Herrera, Chelsea Huniu, Lisa Maginot, Jessica Mejia, Jazmine
Page, Katrina Teramura, Stevie William, and coaches Bob Herrera and
Sheryl Davis, will move on to January’s Area K playoffs with a 12-1-2
record.
DIVISION 5
Green Machine 2, Soccer Brats 1
Brittney Bebek and Sara Burnett both scored as the Green Machine survived
the Soccer Brats in a two-overtime thriller. The Green Machine, who will
compete at the upcoming Area K playoffs, are coached by John Gray and
also consist of Bianca Brown, Cami Coffee, Breanna Flynn, Alyssa
Gonzales, Gwenna Klepfer, Brit Miller, Kristine Morinaka, Lacey Sverev,
Janelle Uht, Amy Valdez, and Kelsey Weston.
