Boys basketball: Mesa takes third

TRABUCO HILLS - Nathan Jones had 23 points and grabbed eight
rebounds to lead Costa Mesa High’s boys basketball team to a 63-59 win
over Trabuco Hills in the third-place game of the Trabuco Hills
Tournament.
The Mustangs (8-3), who trailed throughout the game, went 13 for 16
from the free-throw line, including three in the final 11 seconds to pull
out the win.
“It was a great, hard-fought win,” Mustangs Coach Bob Serven said. “We
had to battle right down to the end.”
Jones and Mustangs’ teammate Ryan Naff were each named to the
all-tournament team.
Costa Mesa will travel to Sunny Hills High to take on the Lancers
tonight at 7.
