2 found with stab wounds in Costa Mesa after report of shots fired
A man and a woman were hospitalized Monday night after a stabbing in Costa Mesa, police said.
Costa Mesa police received a report at 9:11 p.m. of shots fired in the 1000 block of El Camino Drive near Mendoza Drive. When officers arrived, they found two people with stab wounds, said police spokeswoman Roxi Fyad.
The two were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Fyad said.
Their identities were not released.
Witnesses told police that two shots were fired. However, police have not found anyone with gunshot injuries, Fyad said. Police originally reported Monday night that a man and a woman had suffered gunshot wounds.
Police said they are looking for a suspect they believe knows the victims. Details of their relationship and a description of the suspect were not released.
On Tuesday morning, detectives were investigating the yard of an apartment complex at 1046 El Camino Drive where the incident may have occurred. Small pools and drops of what appeared to be dried blood were scattered along the walkways leading to the apartments.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Det. George Maridakis at (714) 754-5051.
