Old World Village lantern parade honors St. Martin
Old World Village in Huntington Beach hosted a colorful parade of children holding lanterns Saturday night.
The celebration honored St. Martin of Tours, a Catholic patron saint. The event was organized by the German School, based in Newport Beach.
Martin was a former soldier who dedicated himself to the poor and become the first known conscientious objector. He is now celebrated by many Catholic traditions with a parade of children holding lanterns symbolizing St. Martin bringing hope to the poor.
