Costa Mesa woman dies in 55 Freeway crash

A Costa Mesa woman died early Monday in a three-vehicle crash on the 55 Freeway in Santa Ana.

The 31-year-old was driving north on the 55 north of the Dyer Road exit at 12:33 a.m. when for unknown reasons, her car ran into the rear of another car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman’s car spun out and stopped. It was then struck on the driver’s side by another car, fatally injuring the woman. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The CHP did not release her name pending notification of her family.

The driver of the third car involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with a fractured pelvis, authorities said.
