Park party marks county’s ‘quasquicentennial’

This year is Orange County’s 125th anniversary, and to mark the “quasquicentennial,” the Orange County Historical Commission and OC Parks presented a public celebration Saturday at Irvine Regional Park.
The party offered historical highlights and demonstrations, walking tours of the park, food and an old-fashioned ice cream social.
The celebration commemorated the county’s formation in 1889, when area residents voted to separate from Los Angeles County and form Orange County. The new county began official business on Aug. 1 that year.
