Classics on display at Lyon Air Museum
Orange County residents have the chance to see one of America’s classic car designs on display through Aug. 5 at the Lyon Air Museum.
The museum — at 19300 Ike Jones Road in Santa Ana, on the west side of John Wayne Airport bordering of Costa Mesa — is hosting seven Packard automobiles, which celebrities such as Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Jean Harlow, Tony Curtis and Gary Cooper drove in their heyday.
The Packard Motor Car Company built cars from 1899 to 1958 and joined the war effort in the 1940s, manufacturing engines for military PT boats and P-51 Mustang fighter planes.
The museum, which also displays World War II planes, bombers and military vehicles, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $12, $9 for seniors and veterans and $6 for kids 9 to 17. Children 5 and under get in free.
