Curriculum discussion to zero in on math

The Laguna Beach Unified School District will hold a parent information night Nov. 5 focusing on the math curriculum.

Researcher Patrick Callahan will lead the discussion, which will give parents tips on how to help their children reach their potential in math, according to a news release.

The talk, titled “All Roads Lead to Calculus/Statistics,” also will focus on changes to math instruction with the new Common Core State Standards, which place greater emphasis on critical thinking and interpretation.
