Segerstrom Center for the Arts offers new summer dance programs

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is offering its first summer dance program with a range of dance opportunities over a duration of six weeks.
Summer Dance will include four separate programs June 26 to July 7 and July 24 to Aug. 18. Classes are for students ages 3 to 18.
The classes are for all abilities and will be taught by principals from many of the country’s leading Broadway and Hollywood companies.
Judy Morr, Segerstrom Center’s executive vice president and principal dance programmer, said the program was important to offer to the community as dance is a form of self-expression, exercise and gives children a chance to bond.
“We absolutely believe dance is part of everybody’s life,” Morr said. “When you talk to parents with children, you need opportunities to have all children explore life and learn. Music and dance is part of that.”
Students must enroll for a minimum of two weeks, but the scheduling does not have to be consecutive. Space is limited for some classes and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The summer dance program is being offered through the Center for Dance and Innovation (CDI). The CDI is home to the Judy Morr Theater, American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School, the School of Dance and Music for Children with Disabilities, among other programs.
