Readers React: Hollywood sign traffic is a safety issue
- Share via
Your editorial regarding Google and Garmin GPS systems routing tourists away from the Hollywood sign is remiss, ignoring the basic role of government: public safety. (“Routing people away from the Hollywood sign is the wrong path,” Editorial, Nov. 28)
When traffic is filtered into a historic, substandard, narrow residential canyon surrounded by brush on three sides and open space with no pedestrian access, the area is unsafe. This is a safety liability for the taxpaying residents of Los Angeles and for area visitors and residents alike.
Efforts by government officials and departments that understand the importance of protecting taxpayers and visitors should be applauded, not dismissed.
