Readers React: The sad state of Metro’s subway system
- Share via
To the editor: The Times is right to herald the expansion of rail transit in L.A. But Metro’s expanding subway lines are fraught with vandalism, confusing fares and ticket vending machines, no bathrooms and scarce law enforcement. (“Will L.A.’s ‘subway to the sea’ finally get there?,” Editorial, Nov. 6)
Regular panhandlers ply the Red Line while riders sit or stand with no phone service or communication ability except for a red button to call the train operator. Once this abomination reaches the Westside, prepare for a backlash.
The potential for these rail lines is fantastic; the current state, not so much.
