Letters: Freeway noise -- get used to it
Re “The 405’s noisy price,†Sept. 28
Residents who live near the 405 Freeway knew full well when they decided to buy their homes that they would be subjected to a barrage of noise, including the constant roar of the freeway day and night and a full orchestra of beeping construction trucks and the “booms and clatters echoing against the metal sides.†The residents figured the homes they bought featuring swimming pools, tree-shaded gardens and striped basketball courts were enough of an exchange to combat the noise they face on a daily basis.
Well, I’ve got news for them. Nobody forced these people to buy their homes. Living next to a freeway, you are going to hear noise. A lot of it.
You either get used to it or you move. After all, the freeway was here first.
