Letters: No to torture
Re “On torture, Romney’s wrong,†Editorial, Oct. 3
Thank you for the powerful editorial that eloquently lays out the case against a return to the policies of the past. Euphemisms aside, a return to “enhanced interrogation techniques†would be nothing less than a return to torture.
A large body of evidence has shown that these techniques do not enhance our security. But they do destroy the physical and psychological health of those who endure them.
It is disturbing that any presidential candidate would embrace policies that violate fundamental human rights. We must hold our leaders to a higher standard.
