Driver in fatal Orange County collision is unlicensed, police say
A 17-year-old driver involved in a collision that killed a motorcyclist over the weekend in Orange County did not have a driver’s license or a learner’s permit, police said Tuesday.
Police and firefighters responded to the collision at 9:33 p.m. Saturday at 3151 Harbor Blvd. in Costa Mesa.
The motorcyclist was identified as Gregory McNally, 30, of Costa Mesa, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
The 17-year-old Costa Mesa girl, who was driving a van, sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to police.
Her mother was in the van at the time of the accident, according to Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott.No one else was in the van.
The collision is under investigation. Drugs, alcohol or speeding do not appear to be factors in the crash, Scott said, and no citations or arrests were made at the scene.
