‘We’re both going to die today’: Woman repeatedly stabbed in line at East L.A. taco truck
Police arrested a 29-year-old man on on suspicion of attempted murder after authorities said he pulled a woman out of line at a taco truck in East Los Angeles and stabbed her multiple times.
The woman was standing in line near Whittier Boulevard and Clela Avenue around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday when a man grabbed her from behind and held an arm around her waist, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s East Los Angeles station.
Authorities said the attacker dragged her away from the truck and said, “We’re both going to die today.â€
The man pulled out a knife and tried to stab the woman in the neck. She raised her hands to protect herself and was stabbed in her hands multiple times, the sheriff’s department said.
A witness driving by saw the attack and tried to scare the man off with a crowbar, but the attacker lashed out and cut him across his chest as well, authorities said. The attacker tried to stab the woman again, this time in her stomach, but she covered the area with her hands. She was stabbed in the hands several more times.
Deputies in the area stopped the attack and took the suspect into custody. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
