Woman on sidewalk is killed and three children hurt when car jumps curb in North Hollywood
A 63-year-old woman was killed and three children injured Saturday afternoon after the pedestrians were struck by a car involved in a collision in the Valley Glen area of North Hollywood, authorities said.
The woman and children, who are relatives, were hit after the car veered onto the sidewalk after colliding with another vehicle at about 4 p.m. in the 12700 block of Vanowen Street, said LAPD Lt. Debra Brounstein.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died. The children — ages 13, 8 and 7 —and the driver of one of the vehicles were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident is under investigation. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved, Brounstein said.
