About 1,100 people were without power in Westwood late Thursday, utility officials said.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said via Twitter that crews were working to restore electricity as quickly as possible.
“Hang in there #Westwood residents,” the agency said. It was not immediately clear what caused the outage.
The Los Angeles Fire Department advised residents to use battery-powered lights and not candles to illuminate their darkened homes.
Areas of Bel-Air were also affected, some residents said on Twitter. No other details were immediately available.
