2 teens shot, 1 killed, in Pico-Union, police say
A 14-year-old boy was killed and a 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting Sunday evening in the Pico-Union neighborhood, police said.
The shooting occurred about 6:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Courtland Avenue, near the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Hoover Street, said Lt. Cliff Humphris of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The 14-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, Humphris said.
The 16-year-old boy was taken to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he was listed in critical condition.
It’s unclear what motivated the shooting.
Before Sunday’s fatal shooting, one person had been killed in the Pico-Union neighborhood during the last 12 months, according to The Times’ Homicide Report database.
