Driver killed after motorhome crashes into Sylmar house
The driver of a motorhome died Thursday night after crashing into a Sylmar house.
The crash occurred around 11:39 p.m. in the 13600 block of Borden Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It is believed that the driver “had some type of medical issue†and passed out at the wheel, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Matthew Kim. The Los Angeles County coroner identified the driver as James Digaetano, 52.
After that, the motorhome collided with the curb, a fence and then the front of the house, which caved in the front of the motorhome and crushed the driver in his seat, Kim said.
There were two people inside the home at the time.
“I think the people were kind of in shock,†Kim said. “They were treated at scene. They’re OK.â€
