Three suspects in custody following fatal shooting in South L.A.
Three suspects are in custody after a man was shot and killed in South Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the area around the intersection of Normandie Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, said LAPD Sgt. Carlton Brown.
LAPD Capt. Darnell Davenport told KTLA-TV that officers responded after receiving reports of a man with a gun.
“They responded to that intersection. Saw the man with a gun and actually saw the suspects firing rounds at the victim. At which time the victim went down,†Davenport told the TV station.
The three suspects then fled, leading police on a pursuit through the neighborhood, Davenport said.
The chase ended after their vehicle crashed into a telephone pole in the 1100 block of West 47th Street, police said.
Two suspects were taken into custody soon after, Davenport said. A third person fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later after authorities set up a perimeter, he said. One home was briefly evacuated during the search, police said
