Reader photo: A good laugh at the L.A. Zoo

J. Michael Elliott photographed these zebras at the Los Angeles Zoo on April 14.

“On this particular day, this one zebra was unusually animated,” said Elliott, a frequent visitor to the zoo. “I was excited by the dramatic lighting, interesting pose and her unique expressions, so I quickly took several photos. This one is my favorite. I’m not sure what prompted these expressions, but to me it looked like she was laughing at her own joke.”

Elliott used a Canon EOS 7D.
