Plane crashes during air show at Travis Air Force Base
A small plane performing in an air show at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California crashed Sunday while performing a maneuver close to the ground, canceling the air show, officials said.
“While performing an acrobatic aerial maneuver, a civilian performer’s aircraft crashed at approximately 2:05 p.m.,†according to a statement from the public affairs office at the base. “The air show was officially canceled and the incident is under investigation.â€
The crash occurred on the tarmac and away from spectators during the Thunder Over Solano air show, officials said. The aircraft was engulfed in flames.
A spokesman had no information on the identity or conditon of the pilot. Emergency personnel remain at the scene.
