Pilot killed after single-engine plane crashes in field in Sylmar
The pilot of a single-engine plane was killed Sunday when his aircraft crashed in a field near the 5 Freeway in Sylmar, officials said.
The crash occurred about 1:50 p.m. in the field east of the freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The pilot, who was trapped in the wreckage, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. He has not been identified.
There were no passengers in the plane.
There were also no reports of a fire at the scene, officials said.
