Pedestrian is killed in O.C. hit-and-run; abandoned vehicle is found a few miles away
Authorities in Santa Ana are searching for a driver suspected of killing a pedestrian and fleeing the scene before crashing the vehicle a second time.
The pedestrian was struck shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday on Fairview Street near Edinger Avenue, said Santa Ana Police Sgt. Oliver Grant.
Emergency crews responded to the intersection and found a man suffering from numerous injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity was not released pending notification of his family.
There were no witnesses to the crash, Grant said. But investigators later found an abandoned vehicle “a couple miles away†from the original crash site and concluded that the vehicle was involved in the earlier hit-and-run.
Police withheld the location of where the vehicle was found because of the investigation.
No details were released about the possible identity of the driver.
