Thankfully there are no ties for Best Picture.

This year’s Academy Awards ended up being in a three-way tie for the wettest in the event’s history, according to the National Weather Service.

About 0.70 inches of rain fell in downtown Los Angeles on Oscar Sunday, soaking the red carpet pre-show.

For sheer wetness, this year’s event tied the Academy Awards ceremony on March 4, 1943, when “Mrs. Miniver†won for Best Picture and 1991 when “Dances with Wolves†beat “Goodfellas.â€

Rain isn’t common during the Oscars, but it’s not terribly unusual either, having fallen on 17 of the 87 Academy Awards ceremonies.

Video from the red carpet showed rain seeping through a tent covering the hordes of celebrities and cameras. A sea of black umbrellas could be seen just before celebrities entered the tent.

In the past, vacuums were used to keep the red carpet dry.

Shout-out to the #Oscars crew working hard to dry the #redcarpet. #GMAOscars

This year, crews could be seen using squeegees to push the rushing rain from soaking the red carpet.

No one was spotted singing in the rain.
