Metro train collides with car in downtown L.A.; delays expected

A man was hurt Thursday after a Metro Expo Line train collided with a car in downtown Los Angeles, officials said.
The 21-year-old man was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries stemming from the crash, which occurred about 2:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Flower Street, said Erik Scott, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A 55-year-old woman was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was pulled from the car, while the man was removed from the train.
All other passengers were safely removed from the train, officials said.
The southbound Expo Line train was slightly off the tracks, but firefighters were on scene to assist Los Angeles County Sheriff’s and Metro officials off-loading passengers.
Metro warned evening commuters to expect delays on the Expo and Blue lines. Metro spokeswoman Kim Upton said delays could be from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how long it took to right the train.
