L.A. Mayor Garcetti to sing ‘New York, New York’ on TV if Kings lose
If the Kings lose the Stanley Cup to the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has promised to sing Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York†on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.â€
Garcetti and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio have placed a bet on the outcome of the Kings-Rangers showdown in the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Final. The first game in the best-of-seven series is Wednesday night at Staples Center in L.A..
“Start spreading the news, it’s been over 20 years since the Stanley Cup has found its home in New York City, and we look forward to it making it’s way here,†De Blasio said.
If the Kings win, De Blasio will sing Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.†on the Kimmel show.
“Looks like another perfect day — for the Kings to take home the Stanley Cup,†Garcetti said. “From the Westside to the Eastside, the Kings will reign. Go Kings Go!â€
Garcetti has already won playoff bets this year with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, when the Kings beat the Blackhawks, and with Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait, when the Kings beat the Ducks.
