Hunters fire near Yosemite 60% contained; nearly 680 acres charred

The Hunters fire burning in dry, steep canyons near Yosemite National Park was 60% contained Thursday, fire officials said.
Fire crews initially believed the fire had burned 1,300 acres, but the total was adjusted to 677 acres after additional mapping, said officials with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The interior of the fire remained hot and firefighters were working to put out any hot spots, CalFire officials said.
Evacuation orders were lifted Wednesday for residents in surrounding areas.
The fire destroyed an outbuilding and two unoccupied homes.
More than 900 firefighters are battling the blaze, which CalFire expects to be fully contained by Monday.
