Pedestrian dies in hit-run incident in North Hollywood
Authorities are searching for a motorist involved in a hit-and-run incident that killed a female pedestrian Friday night, Los Angeles police said.
The unidentified victim, believed to be in her early 50s, was struck about 8:30 p.m. in an unmarked crosswalk on Saticoy Streeet near Irvine Avenue, according to LAPD Officer Jane Kim.
Witnesses said the driver who hit the woman left the scene in a white, newer-model Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, Kim said.
The driver was last seen heading west on Saticoy, she said. The truck was reported to have a small dent near the brake light on the rear left panel.
Earlier, an LAPD captain told reporters at the scene that the woman had been wearing dark clothing.
Police are continuing to investigate, Kim said.
