High-speed pursuit ends in head-on crash in Pasadena
A Lancaster man who led highway patrol officers on a high-speed chase that ended in a head-on collision was in custody Saturday on charges of drunk driving and eluding police, authorities said.
Patrol officers attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla driven by Delfino Eddie Rey, 58, on the 134 Freeway in Glendale on Friday night after receiving a report of a hit-and-run, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Instead, the report said, “the vehicle led units on a pursuit at speeds fluctuating between 10 to 80 mph.â€
The chase continued east onto Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena with Rey driving between lanes and then crashing into an oncoming vehicle east of Linda Vista Avenue, the report said.
Two adults and a child in the other vehicle sustained minor to moderate injuries and they along with Rey were taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital, the report said. He was arrested while receiving treatment, the report said.
