91 Freeway lanes cleared after big rig fatally strikes pedestrian on onramp

Westbound traffic on the 91 Freeway in Orange County was backed up for miles early Tuesday after a big rig hit a pedestrian who was on an onramp, the California Highway Patrol said.

The pedestrian was hit about 4:30 a.m. on the Brookhurst Street onramp in Anaheim, CHP logs show.

The incident forced investigators to close the two right lanes of the freeway, which is a major route for commuters from Riverside to Los Angeles counties and truckers going to the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports.

Crews began to clear the lanes about 8:30 a.m., said CHP Officer Monica Posada.
