A massive electrical transformer fell on a pickup in an Arleta neighborhood Wednesday, killing the driver.
Authorities say the pickup was involved in a three-car crash before it plowed into a power pole and knocked down three transformers about 5:30 p.m.
One transformer crushed the truck cab.
The Fire Department said two people in the other cars had only minor injuries.
Electricity to the transformers was cut as crews worked to remove the transformers and the driver’s body.
About 250 people were left without power, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.
