‘Cowboy Bandits’ charged with robbing 8 businesses in L.A. region

Two men dubbed the “Cowboy Bandits” pleaded not guilty Friday to robbing eight businesses, including a bank, at gunpoint throughout the Los Angeles region, authorities said.

Dominic Dorsey, 46, of Hollywood, and Reginald Bailey, 69, of Los Angeles appeared in U.S. District Court on charges that they violated the Hobbs Act by using force or fear to extort, and used a firearm while committing the robberies, according to a U.S. attorney’s office statement.

The pair earned their nickname after using a large-caliber revolver in the 2013 robberies, according to the statement.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video taken from the robberies and saw that one robber was missing a portion of his left ring finger.

The video evidence led authorities to Bailey, who is also missing a part of his left ring finger, according to the U.S. attorney’s statement. They were arrested Thursday.

The pair allegedly netted more than $55,000 after robbing a Citibank branch in Glendale.

Dorsey and Bailey were also accused of robbing six gas stations throughout Los Angeles County, as well as a Papa John’s pizza restaurant in Canyon Country.
