Student stabbed at Boyle Heights elementary school
A fifth-grader Thursday night was hospitalized after being stabbed at a school in Boyle Heights.
A student at Bridge Street Elementary School in Boyle Heights was rushed to the hospital after a reported stabbing Thursday morning, officials said.
A parent told KTLA that the victim was a fifth grade boy who was attacked by another student.
Los Angeles Fire Department officials said they responded to the school about 10:30 a.m. and took a patient to the hospital after a reported stabbing.

An 11-year-old boy has been charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of bringing or possessing a weapon on school grounds, according to Greg Risling, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Districty Attorney. He’s expected to be in Eastlake Juvenile court on Monday.
The Los Angeles Unified School District released a statement on the incident but refused to comment on the fate of the victim or what happened with the attacker.
“The entire L.A. Unified family is saddened by the tragic incident involving two students at Bridge Street Elementary School yesterday. Student safety is paramount and remains our top priority,†the statement read. “Our thoughts go out to the entire school community, especially the victim. While the law enforcement investigation continues, the District is providing support for students and staff, including those who may have witnessed the incident. Crisis counselors are at the school today. All schools have a Safe School Plan in place, and this plan will be included in the recovery process at Bridge Street Elementary School.â€
School principal addressed the incident in a letter sent home to parents, KTLA reported.
“One student injured another student,†it read. “"The L.A. Unified is working closely with police to investigate the incident and respond accordingly.â€
No information on the victim’s condition was immediately available.
