Authorities were searching Monday for a driver who led officers on a pursuit on the 710 Freeway, crashed and then carjacked another motorist.
California Highway Patrol officers began following the driver of a Honda about 12:22 a.m. after spotting the car traveling over the speed limit northbound on the 710 Freeway near the 91 Freeway, Officer Francisco Villalobos said.
As the driver exited at Alondra Boulevard in Compton, he apparently lost control of the car and crashed, he said.
At that point, the driver abandoned the Honda and tried to commandeer several other vehicles, Villalobos said, eventually carjacking another motorist in a green Honda and fleeing
It was unclear if any of the drivers involved in the incident were injured, he said.
