Peter Bergman obituary: In the March 10 LATExtra section, the obituary of Firesign Theatre co-founder Peter Bergman said that Bergman conceived the Firesign name partly as a send-up of the vintage radio program Fireside Theatre. Fireside Theatre was a television show that first aired in 1949.
Smartphones at theaters: An article in the March 11 Business section about smartphones changing the movie theater business said that the Regency Bruin in Westwood was owned by Regency Theatres. Although Regency operates the Bruin and owns its furnishings and equipment, the theater is owned by the Margaret Skouras Martyn family.
Battleship Missouri: In the March 11 Section A, an article about plans to display historic gun barrels from the USS Missouri said that the barrels were 16 inches in diameter. The measurement refers to the diameter of the bore, the hole in the barrel through which a projectile is fired. The barrel diameter is larger. A similar reference to a 14-inch barrel from the battleship Arizona also referred to the bore size.
