Armie Hammer: An article in the Jan. 5 edition of The Envelope about “J. Edgar†actor Armie Hammer referred to his great-grandfather, Armand Hammer, as an oil magnate and baking soda tycoon. The Occidental Petroleum chief never owned or worked for the maker of Arm & Hammer baking soda.
Jouyssance ensemble: A listing in the Jan. 8 Arts & Books section said that the Jouyssance Early Music Ensemble would perform Jan. 14 at Lutheran Church of the Master in West Los Angeles. That concert occurred Jan. 7.
UCLA football: An editorial comment with a listing of UCLA’s 2012 football schedule in the Jan. 5 Sports section misspelled the first name of the Bruins’ offensive coordinator. He is Noel Mazzone, not Neal.
Lesbian beauty contestants: In the Jan. 7 LATExtra section, an article about the first openly lesbian contestants in Miss California USA said that the pageant was held at McCallum Theatre in Indian Wells. The theater is in Palm Desert.
L.A. Phil review: In the Jan. 7 Calendar section, a review of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s performance of Saint-Saëns’ Third Symphony said that the organ lowers the pitch at the beginning of the second movement by a half-step. The organ raises the pitch a half-step.
