The Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon held its final event — known as the Super Quiz — at USC’s Galen Center on Saturday.
The game-show-style competition requires teams of high school students to answer, within seconds, three dozen multiple-choice questions on topics such as art, economics and science.
Edgewood High School came out on top, with South Pasadena High School earning second place. West High School tied with Mark Keppel High School for third place, and Burbank High School finished fourth.
They were followed by Torrance High School, fifth; South High School and Beverly Hills High School tied for sixth; Alhambra High School and Redondo Union High School tied for seventh; Saugus High School, eighth; El Rancho High School, ninth; and Glendora High School and El Segundo High School tied for 10th.
The Super Quiz results are preliminary, pending the announcement of final team standings and individual scores at the decathlon’s awards banquet Thursday.
In addition to Saturday’s county decathlon, the Los Angeles Unified School District Academic Decathlon was held this weekend, but results were not immediately available.
