Oreo Thins: Is skinny better?
Oreos just got skinny.
Nabisco will release new Oreo Thins Monday, introducing the Oreo world to the creme-filled chocolate cookie sandwich’s thinner, younger sister.

FOR THE RECORD
July 7, 2:11 p.m.: An earlier version of this post said Nabisco released the Oreo Thins on Monday July 6. The cookies will be released July 13.

Oreo Thins taste and look like regular Oreos, until you turn them sideways. Then you realize they’re about half the width, and have about half the creme filling. But does younger and skinnier mean better in the cookie universe?
For one, it’s 90% harder to twist them apart. This will make romantic Oreo twisting on teenage dates near-impossible.
The cookies also break apart in the package, long before you rip it open — in one bag of about 40 cookies, for example, at least half were broken. But if you’re making Oreo cookie crust cheesecake or mixing them into a shake, this is a good thing.
And because they’re thinner, it’s perfectly acceptable to put three in your mouth at a time.
The Oreo Thins have about 140 calories in four cookies, whereas regular Oreos have 160 calories in three cookies.
If you’re on the fence between Oreo Thins and Oreos, you have some time to decide how you feel about them. The cookies are a permanent new offering from Nabisco, and include the Golden and Mint flavors.
