While white roses and outfits stole the sartorial spotlight at the Grammys on Sunday, hair and makeup had plenty of standout moments too.
As makeup artist Jessica Smalls put it, she went with a “Twiggy vibe†for Janelle Monáe’s makeup for the music event in New York. “I decided to make the eye the focal point of the look because I knew Janelle [Monáe] was going to deliver a powerful speech,†she said. “I wanted the audience and everyone watching to be connected to her, and what a better way than to make sure they were looking directly into her eyes.â€
